From Malciaussia Lake towards the Black Lake

LAGO DI MALCIAUSSIA_VALLI DI LANZO_PROVINCIA DI TORINO_TORINO_PIEMONTE

During these summer Sundays, it’s truly a pleasure to escape from the sultry heat and perhaps take refuge under the branches of some trees, while enjoying a breathtaking view.

Just 60 km from Cascina 6b, in the Viù Valley, lies Malciaussia Lake, a scenic and clear body of water that radiates peace and tranquility from the very first glance.

The lake is accessible by car only during the summer season, as snow blocks access in the winter. During the summer period, only on holidays, the access to the Malciaussia lake parking lot is limited with a toll to keep the influx of visitors under control.

From the lake, you can admire the Mount Lera, Rocciamelone, and Autaret Hill reflected in its crystal-clear waters.

Why visit Lake Malciaussia? There are several reasons: to spend a day of complete relaxation lounging on its shores, surrounded by greenery and tranquility, to try your hand at fishing and attempt to catch some fish in the lake, to enjoy excellent traditional Piedmontese dishes at the Vulpot Refuge, served on wooden tables with checkered tablecloths positioned on the front lake or, why not, to embark on trails that lead to the upper lakes, immersed in the stunning panorama of the Graian Alps.

But it’s not the only lake…

In fact, along the trail leading to Rocciamelone (3538 m), it’s possible to stop at the Black Lake (easily reachable with about an hour’s walk), where you can enjoy a peaceful walk towards the two small Lakes of Turlo and the Costa Fenera Pass.

Needless to say, as you ascend, the landscape and especially the view of the valley improve with every step. The silence and tranquility become more profound, with the chirping of birds and the chirring of crickets providing a continuous background sound. If you’re lucky, this white noise might occasionally be interrupted by the sounds made by local wildlife, such as marmots and ibex.

In summary, our Valleys are rich with exceptional places, each with unique features that distinguish them from one another, yet all connected by the same common thread: the serenity.
